A Groan Signals It Is Time For Bed, Or Time For Poem (Depending On The Narrator)

My bed is a sheet and a dog
Upon gravity’s sprawl
For wherever she is is wherever I am
…Folded together like shells of a clam
In between us are feet, a tail and warmth
All haphazardly placed
But sometimes when sleeping with dogs
A girl needs some space

  1. Love this piece. I too sleep with a furry companion. Well, two actually. One of them is a little easier to shove out of the way…

By the way, I’m a U of O alumnus and lived in Eugene for ten years. Your blog makes me homesick. 🙂

    1. Oh I’m glad you are reading then, and I’m also glad you see your old Eugene in the poems. Thanks for the kind words!
