The It Among Us

That pipe gets its own window;
its metal elbow-curve smiling.

Those bricks get their own view
of gleaming turf grass, sprawling.

That car gets its own timetable
on an open topographical map, unfurling.

The woman with the hair gone
missing in front by unchecked
rapid growth of her bad cells
destroying her needed ones,
she gets a shopping cart and
this exhaustive highway view,
never ending.

  1. Great word painting! I could see the woman and the road; cars with drivers looking straight ahead, trying to pretend she isn’t there. Thought evoking writing, for sure. Nicely done.
