Friends, Relationships, and Everyone Around Us

Written for Poetry Picnic Week 8

silly cool body parts

Eyes encounter vibrations
from warm passing bodies,
soft shells we call friends.

Fluty tubules of musical flesh,
compiling gutter hunches,
strengthen our connections.

We know nothing of mind
other than our own, and
that’s the tenuity of a hair.

Of everyone passing around us
we know only signals voiced
from distant axon hillocks.

  1. You have the ability to express banal truth with such brilliance and a unique perspective, K.Shawn. This takes me way back in time to study of neurology in A and P classes. But your point is well-taken.
